Cool stuff for the rail industry

In the rail industry, there are precisely specified requirements and a high level of safety in order to protect passengers and staff, rail vehicles, infrastructure, stations and tunnels from fires.

WADI rail cable glands

EN 45545-3 defines test methods for fire resistance integrity with very high requirements on the components in order to limit the spread of a fire using suitable materials and housings.

In this test, WADI rail cable glands achieved the very high fire resistance integrity criterion E30.

E30 means that the passage of flames and hot gases and the formation of flames on the unflamed side are prevented for a period of at least 30 minutes.

For most of the protected areas, EN 45545-3 only requires the fire resistance integrity criterion E15 (15 minutes).

In terms of fire protection, WADI rail cable glands can be installed in all areas of rail vehicles and rail infrastructure due to the excellent test result E30.
