Information on SVHCs
In accordance with the European Chemicals Regulation (1907/2006 REACH) Article 33, each player in the supply chain is obliged to pass on information on SVHC substances contained in its articles if this substance is present in a concentration of more than 0.1% by mass. Manufacturers and importers are obliged to register substances they have produced themselves as well as substances they have used or imported for which the mass put into circulation exceeds one tonne per year, unless an exemption has been granted.
Under Regulation 1907/2006 REACH, chemical substances are subject to registration, but not the finished product. As a manufacturer of cable glands and accessories, we consider ourselves a classic downstream user.
The products supplied by us are without exception, as defined by the Regulation, products which do not have to be registered. We are in constant contact with our suppliers and distribution partners regarding the registration and compliance of the raw materials used. Our suppliers and distribution partners assure us that they comply with all REACH obligations in this regard.
From the currently published SVHC candidate list and according to our current knowledge, only lead (CAS number 7439-92-1) is used in our brass products made of the material CuZn39Pb3 at more than 0.1 percent of the weight. In terms of machinability, the raw materials have a lead content of 4%. The identification of lead as a substance on the SVHC candidate list does not, however, result in a substance ban or other restrictions at the present time.
Therefore, according to our current knowledge, the products of Jacob GmbH are REACH-compliant according to Regulation 1907/2006.
And a an environmentally friendly alternative, Jacob GmbH already offers cable glands and accessories made of lead-free brass.
