1922
Foundation of the Jacob GmbH on June 6th by Wilhelm Jacob.
First production of brass turning parts - plugs and connectors for the electrical industry. Contact terminals for heating and cooking applicances lead to the slogan „Contact with and through Jacob“.

Notable event on March 18th, 1922: In India, Mahatma Gandhi is sentenced to six years in jail for civil disobedience. However, he would serve only two years.

1951
Construction of the company´s own factory building and relocation to Fellbach, Germany. Manufacturing of brass cable glands, sealing plugs, locknuts and lighting accessories.

Notable event on April 18th, 1951: Treaty of Paris establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) is signed. It comes into force in July 1952.

1960
New generation: following the death of the company founder, the youngest son, Willy Jacob, takes over the management of the family business.

Notable event on June 16th, 1960: Alfred Hitchcock`s Psycho is shown in American movie theatres for the first time, with an advertising campaign ensuring queues at the box office.

1972
Relocation to the present site in Kernen. Start of the production of injection molded plastic parts.

Notable event on June 18th, 1972: Germany wins the European Football Championship in Belgium.

1986
Founding of the subsidiary Jacob elektronische Mess- und Regelgeräte GmbH for measuring technology, construction of a new factory building in Waiblingen.

Notable event on November 22nd, 1986: Following a knock-out victory in the second round against Trevor Berbick, 20-year-old Mike Tyson becomes the youngest heavyweight champion of the world ever.

1992
Expansion of the headquarter in Kernen with the construction of an additional production building.

Notable event on March 18th, 1992: Microsoft launches Windows 3.1.

2009
After the acquisition of the neighbouring facilities of a former chocolate factory, Jacob moves into the new logistics and assembly building. Now all departments are united in one location.

Notable event on June 25th, 2009: The King of Pop Michael Jackson dies at the age of 50.

2011
Jacob establishes a subsidiary in China. The Jacob Electronic Components (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. markets and distributes the products from Kernen in the Asian market.

Notable event on October 30th, 2011: On the Philippines, Baby Danica May Camacho is welcomed as the 7.000.000.000th human being.

2014
Expansion of the laboratory. Testing of protection grades up to IP6X and IPX6, pull tests, extreme temperatures - no problem.

Notable Event on July 13th, 2014: The German national soccer team wins over Argentina at the Fifa World Cup in Brazil. This is Germany's 4th World Cup title.

2017
Modernisations and enlargement of the department for turning technology.

Notable Event on Januar 11th, 2017: The spectacular concert hall "Elbphilharmonie" in Hamburg is inaugurated. The ten years of construction and the tenfold increase in costs are quickly forgotten when people view the impressive new landmark of the city.

2019
Enlargement of the product range for measuring technology with capacitive measuring equipment, radar- and ultrasonic sensor technology.

Notable Event on March 15th, 2019: As part of the social movement "Friday for Future", more than 1.8 million people demonstrate for climate protection in the first global climate strike.

2022
Jacob celebrates it's 100th anniversary.

Notable Event on September 14th, 2022: "We are not there yet. But the end is in sight," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters at a virtual press conference about the end to COVID-19 pandemic.
