Ex-barrier cable gland ICG/653 UNIVERSAL

Due to standard requirements, the demand for barrier cable glands is increasing. A barrier gland is a cable gland that provides a seal around the individual cores of a cable to maintain the flameproof integrity of Ex d equipment.

These glands meet the requirements of EN 60079-14:2014, chapter 10.6 and employ a compound seal, or other sealing method around each core to prevent the migration of an explosion from within a piece of flameproof equipment to the outside atmosphere.

ICG 653/UNIVERSAL is a compound barrier gland for armoured or braided cables which provides an inspectable, repairable barrier seal. It is suitable for all armour / braid types. And also suitable for non armoured cables or cables with fibre optic cores.

For the ICG 653/UNIVERSAL Ex d cable gland the barrier kits are available in both QSP and ExPress versions and come with everything you need for the secure installation.

1. QSP 2-part Hand Mix Putty: Simple to use with a cure time from 30 minutes. Particularly useful where termination space is limited or cables are running horizontally to the installation area.

For more information please go to the installation video QSP/HAWKESEAL.

2. ExPress Barrier Resin: A liquid injectable and fast curing resin, allowing for faster installation time than traditional 2-part compounds.

Check out the installation video ICG653 with ExPress Barrier Resin.

The First Globally Certified, Fully Inspectable, Elastomeric Compound Pot

The revolutionary Hawke compound chamber has been designed with inspectability in mind. With a unique clear non-metallic compound chamber for both IEC and NEC application, the barrier seal can be made using either a QSP 2-part hand-mixed putty, or a liquid injectable resin.

The transparent compound chamber allows full visibility of the flameproof seal during installation and inspection. Total confidence that the fill is void free!
