Cool stuff for the rail industry

In the rail industry, there are precisely specified requirements and a high level of safety in order to protect passengers and staff, rail vehicles, infrastructure, stations and tunnels from fires.

WADI rail cable glands

The EN 45545-3 defines test procedures for fire resistance integrity, imposing very stringent requirements on components. The objective is to effectively prevent fire propagation using appropriate materials and enclosures.

In these tests, WADI rail cable glands achieved the high fire resistance integrity E30. E30 means that the passage of flames and hot gases, as well as flame formation on the unexposed side, is prevented for at least 30 minutes.

EN 45545-3 only requires a fire resistance rating of E15 (15 minutes) for most protected areas. Due to their excellent test result, WADI rail cable glands can be confidently used in all fire protection zones of rail vehicles up to E30.
